Independence
Sri Lanka Drone is an independent information platform with no affiliation to the Civil Aviation Authority of Sri Lanka or any other government authority. No authority reviews or endorses this content, and the platform does not sell drone services, permits or legal advice.
Source hierarchy
Regulatory content is built from sources in strict priority order: current legislation and implementing standards first, then official authority portals, official maps, official application forms, official guidance documents, notices and press releases, direct written clarification from an authority, academic research, reputable secondary sources and finally industry commentary. Commercial drone companies and blogs are never used as the primary source for legal requirements when an official source exists.
Regulatory verification
No regulatory page is marked publication-ready unless its primary official source has been checked, its key claims are supported by that source, the source URL is stored, the page carries a last verified date, active requirements are separated from announced changes, uncertainty is disclosed, the responsible authority is identified and the official application route is linked. Claims that cannot be verified are labelled as requiring verification rather than silently filled in.
We never invent legal requirements, permit processes, forms, fees, processing times, licence requirements, zone classifications, restricted locations, effective dates or contact details.
Review frequency and updates
Core regulatory pages are re-verified against their official sources on a recurring cycle and whenever an official change is detected. The updates section records verified developments with the authority, a summary and the dates detected and verified. Only real updates are published.
Corrections
Errors are corrected promptly once verified, and material corrections are noted on the affected page. Anyone can report outdated or incorrect information through the corrections page; reports that include an official source are actioned fastest.
Use of AI and human review
AI tools are used in drafting and structuring content. Regulatory claims are verified against official sources as described above, and the platform is building reviewer infrastructure so that qualified local reviewers can be credited on key pages. We do not invent reviewers, experts, pilots or lawyers, and no reviewer is named until a real one has reviewed the page.
Separation of editorial and commercial content
Editorial content is never influenced by commercial arrangements. The platform currently carries no sponsorships or affiliate links. If sponsored placements are ever introduced, for example in the industry directory, they will be clearly labelled and separated from editorial listings, and sponsorship will never change a regulatory conclusion. Conflicts of interest, should they arise, will be disclosed on the affected pages.
Imagery and editorial illustration
Photography and imagery on this platform is editorial illustration based on real Sri Lankan locations and realistic field situations. Location imagery uses ground-level perspectives for restricted or heritage sites, so no image implies an unapproved flight, and images are never presented as documentary evidence of a specific real drone operation. Some images are AI-assisted editorial renderings produced to our house style; where an image depicts a named place, the place itself is real and verifiable.
Alt texts describe what an image literally shows. If you believe an image is misleading, the corrections process applies to imagery exactly as it does to text.
